since apple founder steve jobs took over the cgi department from george lucas and called it pixar, the emeryville (ca) based studio has been at the cutting edge of computer generated film. after releasing a number of academy award winning shorts likeluxo jr. and tin toy pixar was the first studio to produce a full-length 3d animated feature film: toy story (1995). a bug's life (1998) and toy story 2 (1999) ) were able to repeat its success, but monsters inc. (2002) and especially Finding Nemo (2003) broke all box office records for animated films. the next pixar movie is due to release november 5th in the us. to make waiting for its german release less hard for pixar addicts like us, we will show all their films in this retrospective.
